Telehealth and eHealth

Cassia Medical is able to offer both Telehealth and Telephone Services to eligible patients during the pandemic. We aim to provide eHealth services to assist patients in accessing healthcare services without the need to attend our practice in person.

Telehealth

Telehealth is video conferencing with your health practitioner. We use HealthDirect, a government run program that allows easy access for Health Professionals and patients to use video conferencing for their continued health care.
HealthDirect is easy to use and can be accessed from any phone, tablet, laptop or computer as long as you have access to a web browser, webcam/camera and microphone.
Please note some consults must be conducted via video conferencing to be eligible for Bulk Billing and Medicare Rebates.

To access video conferencing:

1. Book your appointment online or with our reception team. Either select or let our team know you would like your appointment via video.

2. On the day of your appointment our team will send you a link either via SMS or email to access your appointment

3. At the time of your appointment click the link on your device, and follow the prompts to enter the waiting room.

4. When your practitioner is ready, they will accept your call. You'll be able to see and hear your practitioner.

You can use the HealthDirect Test Call feature to check your system before your call.

Telephone

Telephone consults can be used for consults when you don't have the need to be seen in person by your practitioner.
At the time of your appointment, your practitioner will call you from our practice number. If you miss the call please contact our reception team and they will either transfer you to your practitioner or work out another suitable time for you to take the call.
Please note Medicare does not fund all appointment types to be conducted via telephone. Please ask our reception team or your provider to avoid confusion.

Electronic Scripts

If your practitioner provided you with a script, they will ask you what chemist you will collect it from. Our reception team will then provide the pharmacy with a copy of your script for you to collect.
You are also welcome to collect your script from reception.

Electronic scripts sent to via SMS or email are coming soon to provide you with more convenience.

Electronic Referrals

If your provider wrote a referral during your appointment a copy will be electronically sent to the specialist. We also encourage you to contact your specialist to arrange appointments and get information about your ongoing care. Please let us know how you would like this sent to you.
Please be mindful email is not a secure system and care should be taken if you wish to have your health information sent via email.
